The Arab Student Association is a space for both Arab students and non-Arab students interested in Arab culture and the Arabic language to meet and experience Arab culture through weekly meetings and large Arab Student Association-sponsored events each semester. Our weekly meetings typically consist of updates about the club, Arab news, and casual discussion while our larger biannual events consist of celebrating Arab culture through hosting a large Arab dinner party with Arab food and music for all who attend. We are also planning to host more medium-sized events this upcoming year such as monthly Arab movies nights where the club gets together to watch and discuss Arab films. Additionally, depending on the COVID-19 situation, we hope to host small excursions to the Arab bakery and other places in Richmond to explore the Arab influence locally. All students interested in the Arab world, regardless of ethnicity or area of studies, are welcome. Reach out to me by email if you have any questions. Ballet Club intends on adding to the campus dance community by providing an outlet for students interested in practicing classical ballet. The club is open to students of all dance experience levels; the club seeks to give students with previous ballet experience the opportunity to continue dancing and to teach technique to any beginners who want to learn ballet. Welcome to the BARK Club page! The goal of BARK Club is to help students get connected to local Richmond animal shelters to volunteer. We currently work with Richmond SPCA and Richmond Animal Care and Control. Students volunteer at least 2 hours a month at the shelters predominantly with dog walking but some volunteers also take dogs on outings, runs, help with clean-up and admin work, or assist with cat care! Both shelters are around 20 minutes away so for students without cars, we help organize transportation with another volunteer.

We also host fundraising events to raise money and awareness for the shelters. Our main event is an outdoor event in the spring with both pets and adoptable dogs. Please message us with any questions! We look foward to having you join the club!

The University of Richmond has a vibrant, diverse Catholic campus ministry program that serves nearly 1,000 Catholic students, staff, faculty, and nearby residents who often attend Mass with the campus community.

Mass is celebrated every Sunday at 5 p.m. in Cannon Chapel during the academic year. CCM students join in the ecumenical Kairos Evening Prayer on Tuesday nights. Scripture and a Slice Bible study on Wednesdays offers a deeper dive into the Sunday lectionary, and various other devotional activities are offered depending on student interests, along with community service and fun fellowship events. Our community is known for being cheerfully Catholic and enthusiastically ecumenical.

Our choir is entirely made up of students and directed by a student music director. Students serve as lectors, hospitality ministers, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.

CCM is a ministry of the University Chaplaincy, not a student organization. We are connected to the wider church through nearby St. Bridget parish, which typically sends priests to celebrate Mass with us. Students can get baptized, confirmed, and married through CCM in Cannon Chapel.

Choeur du Roi (Chords), founded in 1995, is the University of Richmond's oldest all-gender a cappella group. "Choeur du Roi" means "Choir of the King" in French and is pronounced like corduroy pants, which we all wear at our major performances. Most importantly, our collective passion for music and group chemistry bring us together and make Chords feel like a family. Additionally, those on the Executive Board develop leadership skills, including conflict resolution, teamwork, and effective time management.

Mission
The Jewish Life Program at the University of Richmond is a pluralistic organization for Jewish students to explore their religious, cultural, and spiritual identities among the backdrop of an elite liberal arts campus. As part of the Office of the Chaplaincy, the program is committed to a multifaceted approach to Judaism that welcomes students of all backgrounds, and empowers them to lead meaningful lives informed by Jewish values and tradition. Jewish Life at Richmond recognizes that each person celebrates their Jewishness in unique ways, and invites them to be a part of crafting Jewish community together.

There are opportunities for dynamic ritual observance, Torah study, social action engagement, social programming, and connection to Israel. All of this will be to further the goals of enhancing Jewish community, deepening spirituality, exploring culture, and engaging with the Richmond community.

Kairos services are led by Chaplaincy staff members and student leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve on the Kairos Leadership Team (KLT). The KLT takes an active role in worship leadership by helping with outreach and publicity, preparing the Chapel for the services, serving as lectors, singing, playing music, offering prayers, and planning events for the Kairos community to get to know one another.

Kairos is a ministry of the Chaplaincy, not a student organization. Kairos community engagement activities are similar to the events coordinated by student organizations. We are grateful to be included among the religious and spiritual communities so that we may share about weekly services and events.

There are no requirements for membership in the Kairos community. We welcome all to attend the Kairos services and join us for the community engagement events. We hope to see you soon!

What to Expect at a Kairos Service

1) No need to dress up for the service. Come as you are.
2) We know it can be intimidating to attend by yourself if you don’t know anyone. Kairos Leadership team members will greet you at the Chapel doors when you arrive, introduce you to others, and even sit with you during the service, if you would like.
3) We gather in the choir loft, so you might arrive a few minutes early (7:55 p.m.) to have time to walk up and settle in.
4) Most people drop their backpacks in the last few pews of the Chapel so that they don’t have to trek all the way to the choir loft with them.
5) The service is contemplative in nature, and the music is accompanied by a piano. We sing one contemporary song and one traditional hymn, and the words are printed in the bulletin.
6) During the service, the “passing of the peace” is a chance to greet one another. You can smile, wave, shake hands, introduce yourself, have a whole conversation - whatever you feel most comfortable doing.
7) Kairos Leadership Team members read two readings in every service - one Bible passage and one from the Christian tradition.
8) One of the Chaplaincy staff members gives the reflection, and the message lasts about 10 minutes.
9) After the reflection, you are invited to light a candle to represent a prayer request that you have or a someone that you are remembering. You don’t have to light a candle; you can just sit there quietly, reflect, listen to the music and/or pray.
10) Following the service, there are fellowship events next door in the Wilton Center, and it’s a great way to meet people and get to know them. You don’t have to stay; if you need to study or have another commitment, we understand. Join us when you can!

Kapwa is a youth-led program that explores Filipino and Filipino American history in order to understand, engage with, and push for change around the concerns of the Filipino-American community. Our youth study the conditions, choices, and decisions of Filipinos during that time that have shaped the Filipino communities we see today.

We encourage them to explore various methods community members use to respond to the concerns of the Filipino American community throughout history. Ngoma African Dance Company has maintained a strong presence on the University of Richmond campus for 30 years. Led by our artistic director, Babadunjo Olugunke, for the past 29 years, we have performed many performances from Celebration of Dance to MLK Day, Oliver Hill Scholars dinner, and our annual Spring Concert. We perform a variety of dances, originating from different areas of West Africa. We, the men of the provisional chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of Richmond, pledge to be good hosts for ourselves, our community, and our brotherhood.





Since our founding close to a year ago, our mission has been to be good hosts. By no means do we mean host in the restricted sense, either. A good host is constantly in the service of others in the broadest capacity, unfettered by any physical structures. It should be, we take it, our highest point of pride if one can truly say we have been good hosts. We say this in the past tense since, pointing toward the future, one can always be better; this isn’t a milestone we can ever reach, but certainly one we can achieve. We aren’t, of course, the first group of people to hold such a view. The Greeks called it xenia, the virtue found in the offering of hospitality. Xenia was such an esteemed virtue that every myth where someone acted on the vice of inhospitality involves a responsive invocation of Zeus’s wrath. Zeus decimated an entire village because some occupants wouldn’t let an old man into their homes during a storm. We try to keep the mindset that our village, also known as our brotherhood, might well be destroyed in the same fashion if we, too, become inhospitable. Thus, from xenia, we derive the ways in which we better ourselves, our fraternity, and our community. We also recognize the relationship between hosting and leadership, with both involving the use of power to serve others. Accordingly, we view it as only proper that we strive to be a fraternity filled with leaders to pursue the virtue of xenia. We continue to recruit men who we believe to be fully capable of said pursuit. In doing so, we only serve to further our capacity to be good hosts of the community and build an inclusive brotherhood.

Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honor society was founded in 1920 to encourage and recognize superior achievement in the study of government and politics at the undergraduate and graduate level. Pi Sigma Alpha is the only honor society for college and university students of government and political science in the United States. The University of Richmond’s Beta Xi chapter was founded in 1953.

To be selected, a student must have completed the following academic requirements:
(1) Six units in political science at UR;
(2) Three units of which must be at the 300 or 400 level;
(3) Overall GPA of 3.3; and
(4) Overall GPA of 3.5 in the major.

We are a co-ed program that practices three times a week and competes at various local, regional and national tournaments. We go to 2-4 tournaments per semester and host a tournament as well as a recreational tournament for Richmond students.

We are the Generation Action X Planned Parenthood organization on campus, and we work together to fight for reproductive justice and fundamental justice for all. This means that we help educate people on a variety of topics, including safe sex, mental health, women's empowerment, women's healthcare services, and the fight for reproductive rights. Planned Parenthood is divided between women's health and healthcare services, as well as advocacy for pro-reproductive rights candidates, and we participate in activities related to both. With everything going on in the world with COVID-19 and important social issues, we believe in the importance of health in all aspects, and plan to work with other organizations of social justice on campus and in our local Richmond community.

UR Relay for Life is committed to raising awareness and money for the American Cancer Society. We host fundraisers throughout both semesters and a large event in the spring (the Relay) with cancer survivors, speakers, and participants. At the event, teams of students and faculty members come together to play games, eat at food trucks, listen to cancer survivors, and walk around the track for hours in hopes to honor those who have lost their lives to cancer and raise money to find a cure for those currently suffering.
