What is Cuenticos y recuerdos: A Latinx Magazine at UR?
It is a collaborative publication between The Hub, LALIS, students, faculty, and staff. This magazine celebrates Latinidad at UR by showcasing the arts, scholarship, and achievements of our Latinx community.

This second issue builds upon this year’s Latinx Heritage Month’s Keynote Speaker, Gabby Rivera’s, work on the Latinx superhero. The goal for this issue is to highlight our aspirations, personal heroes, and/or heroic moments. The purpose of this magazine is to open a space to forge individual and collective storytelling that celebrates the Latinx community at UR through creative and defiant mediums.

We aim to provide a forum for voices across all areas of campus to share, express, and highlight Latinx experiences, ideas, and art. We are actively seeking contributions, in any language, from individuals who feel an affiliation with the Latinx community at UR. We are interested in any of, but not limited to, the following:
  • Academic pieces from any discipline. Interdisciplinary pieces are especially welcome.
  • Personal experience/nonfiction pieces.
  • Reflections resulting from research programs or internships, particularly those of a transnational perspective.
  • Reflective or critical pieces on the arts, such as films, television, animation, novels, etc.
  • Creative pieces include prose fiction, poetry, graphic storytelling/comics, and visual art that includes a brief narrative from the artist.
  • Responses to featured events and lectures on campus, providing readers with your take on an invited speaker's talk.

We welcome a range of submission lengths. In general, creative/expressive stories are 500-700 words, and scholarly pieces are between 1,000-1,500 words. To submit a longer piece, please contact the editorial team.

To submit or for questions, please reach out to the Editoras, Dafne Luna and Dr. Laura Fernández, at their email addresses: dluna@richmond.edu and lfernand@richmond.edu.
