In collaboration with the Science Belonging Committee, join the Biology Department for their Latinos in Science guest speaker, Dr. Carlos Escalante, Professor of Molecular, Cellular, and Genetic Medicine at VCU School of Medicine. He'll be giving a seminar about his work in the Escalanta Lab; his research focuses on the structural and mechanistic study of DNA transactions such as transcription regulation, DNA replication, and transcription termination. We use a hybrid structural biology approach through the combination of X-ray crystallography, Cryo Electron Microscopy (CryoEM), and Small-Angle X-ray-Scattering (SAXS) with the ultimate goal of understanding biological processes at the molecular level.
